What is fingerprinting?
Every song is unique. In the Airplay Monitoring Centre in Hilversum, SoundAware monitors the airplay of audio sources, such as radio and television broadcasts. Whenever a new song emerges, or one that simply hasn’t been detected before, it is scanned and analyzed, after which its unique qualities are stored in several fingerprints.

Airplay Mapping
In the Airplay Monitoring Centre, hours of radio and television are compared to fingerprints in the database. In case of a match the system notes what was broadcast, when and by whom, which provides a fast and secure way of generating playlist data from an unlimited number of sources.

Music & speech recognition
Moreover, advanced technology also enables SoundAware to perform accurate music & speech recognition, meaning that both music and speech can be identified without the use of predefined fingerprints.
