Di-rect's 'Soldier On' is closing in on The Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights' and climbs from 20th to second place in the SoundAware Airplay Top 20 in May. In some Dutch charts the Dutch band from The Hague already surpassed the Canadian artist on their way to the top position, but in the list of most played tracks on Dutch radio, the singer-songwriter with Ethiopian roots is still is on top.

'Blinding Lights' was featured no less than 758 times on the various public and commercial channels. The perhaps already biggest hit of 2020 is followed closely by Di-rect with 645 plays. Dua Lipa's 'Physical' has been played 605 times, completing the top 3. 'Blinding Lights' continues to be popular with Dutch radio DJs and listeners at home. The track also can be found almost continuously for months in the highest regions of the various charts, but that seems to be changing. Not only Di-rect is closing in, Dutch singer Davina Michelle with her hit single 'Beat Me' is also on the rise. Last month she stormed into Top 20 from nowhere to 6^th place with 557 plays.

Six Dutch hits

In addition to the hits by Di-rect and Davina Michelle, the Top 20 also contains four other hit singles by, partly Dutch, artists. For example, we see Racoon's 'Het Is Al Laat Toch' in 12th place, followed by Martin Garrix's 'Drown' with Clinton Kane in sixteenth position. Duncan Laurence (17) and again Martin Garrix (now with Dean Lewis) in twentieth place complete the Dutch contribution.
 
Universal Music is the main supplier and provides no less then eight tracks, followed by Sony Music with seven. Warner Music delivers three hit singles, and Dutch label 8ball two.
