'Memories’ by Maroon 5 was the most played song on Dutch radio stations in December. The track was heard no less than 664 times on various public and commercial channels. The hit by the American band is followed by 'Dance Monkey' by Tones and I with 644 plays. Post Malones ‘Circles’ was played 637 times and completes the top 3.

This is shown by data from SoundAware, the company that registers for the music industry which music is played on Dutch TV and radio stations. 'Memories' is the first hit of the upcoming seventh album by the band. It is their biggest airplay chart success in the Netherlands since 2011 smash hit ‘Moves Like Jagger’.

The Top 20 contains six hit singles by, partially, Dutch artists. 'Post Malone (feat. Rani)' by DJ / producer Sam Feldt in ninth position is the biggest hit of them. Record company Universal Music is the main supplier with eight tracks each in December, followed by Sony Music with seven and Warner Music with three tracks.

December obviously is the holiday season. This also reflects in the twenty most played songs of the month. Good old Chris Rea and his evergreen ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ was played 501 times, shortly followed by all-time favourite ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham! with 487 plays.

SoundAware measures and reports on a daily basis the use of music on Dutch public and commercial channels, among others on behalf of the Stichting Nederlandse Top 40, various media agencies, record companies and radio stations.
